Our Why

Supporting Community Members

At IAJE, we proudly serve all members of the immigrant community who often face the greatest barriers to accessing services and support. We primarily serve immigrant families throughout Mississippi, with a focus on:

  • Maternal and child health

  • Public health initiatives through our Promotora program — chronic disease, mental health, STI and safe sex practices

  • Refugees and assylum seekers

  • Mixed-status families

  • Queer and trans community

  • Immigrant youth and children of immigrants

  • DACA and DALE applicants

Holding Space

Immigrants in MS face numerous barriers, including:

  • Limited legal protections

  • Workplace exploitation

  • Healthcare barriers

  • Education gaps

  • Language injustice

  • Social isolation

We believe that human dignity transcends administrative classifications, and we serve all Mississippi residents who need our assistance. Our inclusive approach allows us to reach vulnerable populations who might otherwise remain in the shadows, afraid to seek help.
