El Poder Interno

Change from Within

“Cada momento es una oportunidad para organizar, cada persona un activista potencial, cada minuto una oportunidad para cambiar el mundo."

“Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world."

Dolores Huerta, Labor Leader and Civil Rights Activist

This is How We Do It

    1. We believe the best way to build power is through organizing people.

    2. We center healing, safety, and joy through creation.

    3. Civic engagement is harm reduction.

    4. We believe people are the experts of their own lives and experiences.

    5. We believe that language justice is important not so non-English speakers can understand you but so you can understand them and receive their wisdom.

    6. We believe that people closest to the problem are the people closest to the solution; impacted people must lead.

    7. We believe that our movement must be intergenerational.

    8. Youth is the lifeline to the future.

    9. Elders are the bridge to the past.

    10. We believe in fighting assimilation.

    11. We reject the idea that a formal, Western education is a marker for intelligence.

    12. As an abolitionist organization, we denounce white supremacy, the patriarchy, and capitalism.

    13. Black and Brown organizing is at the center of our work.

    14. We believe in respectful, meaningful push back.

    15. Our movements must center physical and mental health as well as the health of our Mother Earth.

    16. We believe we can change the political landscape of our state.

    17. We believe in meeting people where they are with no judgment.

    18. We denounce shame as a means of control.

    19. We lead in love.

    20. We are pro-Black, pro-Brown, pro-Indigenous, pro-queer, pro-trans, pro-sex worker, pro-worker, pro-women and gender minorities, and pro-Earth.
