Labor
IAJE champions labor rights advocacy and justice by organizing immigrant workers across Mississippi to address workplace abuses. Through our dedicated Labor Justice program, we combat wage theft, unsafe working conditions, and exploitation in industries such as food processing, agriculture, and manufacturing. We work with national partners to provide access to the DALE (Defer Action to Labor Enforce) program, which begins the pathway to obtaining crucial work permits and legal protections for workers reporting labor injustice.
Our team conducts regular worker meetings in communities like Hattiesburg and Carthage, offering know-your-rights training throughout the state, and developing grassroots leadership through our "Promotores de Labor" (Worker Leaders) initiative. By connecting workers with legal resources and building partnerships with national organizations, we create sustainable change in labor practices while empowering immigrant communities to advocate for their rights and dignity in the workplace.
